Senior Audit Associate

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Audit Associate to join our Lagos office and lead audit engagements for a diverse client base. You will work closely with senior managers to ensure audit quality, compliance with standards, and timely delivery of deliverables.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute and supervise audit engagements, including risk assessment and audit program development.
• Perform substantive testing, analytical procedures and controls testing, obtaining sufficient audit evidence.
• Prepare and review audit working papers in line with firm methodology and ISA requirements.
• Identify accounting, control and compliance issues and discuss findings with clients and engagement leadership.
• Draft sections of audit reports, management letters and financial statements for review.
• Supervise, coach and review the work of junior team members, providing on‑the‑job training.
• Monitor engagement timelines and budgets, escalating issues to the Audit Manager as needed.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of IFRS, ISA and relevant regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years post‑qualification experience in an audit firm.
• Professional certification (ACA or ACCA) is mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and ISA.

Required skills

• CaseWare (or similar automated audit software).
• Microsoft Office Suite.
• Understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Understanding of International Auditing Standards (IAS).
