Senior Accountant

About the role

Everyday Group is looking for a Senior Accountant to join its Finance team in Port Harcourt. In this role you will manage the general ledger, ensure statutory compliance and lead a small team within a high‑volume retail/FMCG environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly and annual financial statements and drive the GL closing process within five working days.
• Perform monthly cost‑of‑sales to inventory reconciliations, investigate gross‑margin variances and stock losses.
• File and pay all tax obligations (VAT, WHT, PAYE, CIT) on time and maintain audit trails for regulatory reviews.
• Supervise, train and review the work of four accounting officers to ensure accuracy and standardised procedures.
• Identify and recommend system enhancements and process improvements to increase financial efficiency and control.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• ICAN or ACCA qualification (mandatory).
• Minimum 7 years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a senior or supervisory role.
• Proven experience in retail, supermarket or FMCG environments handling high transaction volumes.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and Nigerian tax regulations.

Required skills

• Proficiency with QuickBooks or a comparable ERP system.
• Advanced Excel and analytical abilities.
