Security Assistant – Field Operations (Benue & Plateau)

About the role

The Security Assistant will support the Technical Advisor Security in implementing CRS safety and security policies across project activities in Benue and Plateau states. This role involves gathering security information, monitoring staff and vehicle movements, and providing on‑the‑ground security support for field operations.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and collate safety and security information for CRS activities in Benue and Plateau.
• Conduct periodic security risk assessments of project environments.
• Track and record daily CRS vehicle and staff movements in the two locations.
• Work with partner organisations to ensure programmes follow CRS Health, Safety and Security protocols.
• Respond to security incidents, gather relevant data, and inform the Technical Advisor Security.
• Maintain a statewide network of influential actors and communicate CRS status and mission.
• Escort field staff on outreach activities and provide security briefings.
• Ensure adherence to CRS security operating procedures, contingency plans, and equipment functionality (satellite phones, radios, internet).
• Prepare regular situational reports and incident reports for the Technical Advisor and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Familiarity with CRS Safety and Security procedures, the Safe and Sound Manual, and related SOPs.
• Ability to conduct security risk assessments and provide training on SOPs, contingency plans, and incident reporting.
• Strong communication skills for briefings, coordination with partners, and network maintenance.
• Willingness to work in field environments and escort staff as needed.
