Safeguarding & GBV Lead

About the role

We are seeking a Safeguarding & GBV Lead to establish and run M‑KOPA’s internal safeguarding function across Nigeria. Reporting to the Impact team, you will design prevention strategies, drive cultural change and manage the full incident lifecycle for a diverse workforce that includes headquarters staff, field agents and retail personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver safeguarding awareness programmes for all employees and field agents.
• Design and implement preventive measures, training and internal communications to embed a safeguarding culture.
• Act as the primary point of contact for survivors, providing first‑response support, referrals and case management through resolution.
• Conduct investigations, liaise with law enforcement and external service providers, and document incidents in the grievance platform.
• Identify, assess and mitigate safeguarding risks proactively.
• Advise people managers on duty‑of‑care responsibilities and ensure compliance with M‑KOPA’s global SOPs.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of hands‑on safeguarding experience handling sensitive cases.
• Proven ability to work in private‑sector or field‑based environments.
• Deep understanding of Nigeria’s legal framework and cultural context regarding workplace harm.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
