Resident OpenShift Support Engineer

About the role

The Resident OpenShift Support Engineer is a contract, on‑site role based in Lagos, responsible for day‑to‑day technical support of Red Hat OpenShift environments across production, staging, and non‑production clusters.

Key responsibilities

• Providing day‑to‑day support for on‑premises Red Hat OpenShift clusters across production, staging, and non‑production environments.
• Proactively monitoring cluster health, including control plane, worker nodes, etcd, storage, networking, ingress, certificates, capacity, and workloads.
• Investigating and triaging alerts, distinguishing real incidents from false positives, and recommending clear actions.
• Supporting incident diagnosis, mitigation, service restoration, and communication during platform disruptions.
• Performing operational tasks such as workload scaling, node cordoning, configuration corrections, and applying known OpenShift workarounds.
• Troubleshooting platform issues including pod crash loops, resource exhaustion, image pull failures, storage, ingress, routing, network‑policy conflicts, and probe failures.
• Supporting OpenShift lifecycle activities like patching, minor version upgrades, backup/restore validation, certificate rotation, capacity reviews, and upgrade readiness assessments.
• Assisting with OpenShift security hardening (RBAC, SCC, certificates, network policies) and collecting diagnostic data for Red Hat support cases.
• Producing incident updates, root‑cause analysis inputs, run‑book improvements, and periodic platform health reports.
• Participating in after‑hours on‑call support for critical incidents and emergencies.

Required profile

• Practical experience supporting Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes in an enterprise production environment.
• Strong understanding of Kubernetes/OpenShift architecture and components.
• Hands‑on troubleshooting using OpenShift CLI, logs, metrics, Prometheus, Alertmanager, and Grafana.
• Familiarity with Linux administration, networking, storage, certificates, and container platforms.
• Ability to remain calm during incidents, communicate clearly with technical and non‑technical stakeholders, and follow structured change‑management processes.
