Rental Electrical Engineer

About the role

The Rental Electrical Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical equipment used in rental operations, including Caterpillar engines, generator sets, and specialized units. The role involves field work to ensure minimal downtime and high-quality service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical modules and components of gas and diesel Caterpillar engines, generator sets, and specialized units such as electronic magnetos.
• Conduct load testing, pre‑delivery inspections (PDS), and commissioning of new equipment, completing required DSR forms before customer hand‑over.
• Prepare single‑line diagrams, perform electrical calculations, size cables, and specify materials for each job.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams and specifications, and use diagnostic tools to verify performance of repaired systems.
• Coordinate parts ordering, manage tools and assets, and generate service reports and delivery documentation.

Required profile

• HND or first degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on field experience with electrical systems.
• Valid professional driving licence and safe driving record.

Required skills

• Troubleshooting of electrical systems.

• Electrical calculations and cable sizing.
