Regulatory Manager

About the role

The Regulatory Manager will ensure Johnvents Group remains fully compliant with the evolving regulatory landscape of Nigeria’s agribusiness and commodities sector. Acting as the primary interface with agencies such as the SEC, CBN, NAFDAC and the Export Promotion Council, the role proactively manages risk, secures licences and guarantees adherence to national and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all formal communication and engagements with key regulatory agencies.
• Manage end‑to‑end processes for securing, renewing and maintaining operational licences, export permits and certifications.
• Coordinate responses to regulatory inquiries, inspections and thematic assessments.
• Monitor changes in agricultural, financial and trade regulations; conduct impact assessments and advise leadership.
• Develop and implement internal compliance policies aligned with group‑wide standards.
• Prepare and file all periodic regulatory returns with zero‑defect submissions.
• Present regulatory compliance reports to the Board and Executive Management.
• Partner with Operations, Finance and Supply Chain to ensure statutory health, safety and environmental standards.
• Act as internal auditor for regulatory matters, conducting gap analyses to keep the group audit‑ready.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Accounting or a related field.
• Professional certification in Compliance (e.g., CAMS) or a call to the Nigerian Bar (LLB/BL) is highly preferred.
• 5–8 years of experience in regulatory compliance, corporate legal or government relations, preferably within agribusiness, FMCG or financial services.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of Nigerian commodities exchange regulations, import/export trade laws and agricultural sector guidelines.
• Strong legal research ability to interpret complex legislation.
• Exceptional stakeholder management, negotiation and lobbying capabilities.
