Regional Communications Manager – West & Central Africa

About the role

Sun King is seeking a Regional Communications Manager to lead storytelling, media relations and corporate communications across West & Central Africa. You will shape the communications strategy for a fast‑growing off‑grid solar business, working closely with country teams, partnerships, marketing and sales.

Key responsibilities

• Source and develop field stories, customer testimonials and impact content across the region.
• Design and execute content distribution across media, social, investor and internal channels.
• Maintain the regional communications library and calendar.
• Track and analyse impact metrics using Looker to inform reporting.
• Build Sun King’s presence at regional and international industry events, panels and conferences.
• Create speaker briefs, thought‑leadership materials and event participation plans for senior leadership.
• Develop and nurture relationships with regional and international media outlets and journalists.
• Implement media engagement strategies, including pitching, spokesperson management and media training.
• Draft press releases, op‑eds, expert commentaries and corporate communications collateral.
• Manage website updates, fact sheets, brochures, investor decks and brand assets for the region.
• Support fundraising and investor communications with tailored presentations.
• Collaborate with country teams to identify storytelling opportunities and manage reputational risks.
• Ensure brand consistency across all markets.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or Higher Diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, International Development, Business Administration or a related field.
• Master’s degree (preferred) in Strategic Communications, Marketing, International Development or MBA, especially for candidates with fewer than eight years of regional communications experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven experience in regional communications, media relations and storytelling.
