Reconciliation Officer

About the role

The Reconciliation Officer will ensure the accuracy and completeness of all bank, customer and general ledger balances. You will work closely with internal teams and external service providers to resolve any discrepancies and support the month‑end and year‑end closing processes.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily reconciliation of bank accounts, customer accounts and general ledger balances.
• Reconcile interbank and electronic payment transactions (NIBSS, NIP, POS, ATM, USSD, Mobile Banking, etc.).
• Identify, investigate and resolve reconciliation exceptions promptly.
• Monitor outstanding and unresolved transactions and ensure timely resolution.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reconciliation reports.
• Maintain accurate posting and balancing of financial transactions.
• Liaise with internal departments and external service providers to resolve issues.
• Maintain documentation and records for audit and regulatory purposes.
• Support month‑end and year‑end financial closing activities.
• Perform other finance‑related duties as assigned by management.

Required profile

• OND/HND in Accounting, Banking & Finance, Economics or related discipline.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience in reconciliation, finance, accounting or banking operations.
• Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, ATS or equivalent is an advantage.

Required skills

• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Basic understanding of banking operations and financial reconciliation processes.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
