Quantity Surveyor

About the role

Excel Engineering & Construction is hiring a full-time, on-site Quantity Surveyor based in Lagos State, Nigeria. The role covers cost planning and control from project inception to completion, working closely with project managers, engineers and procurement teams.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review Bills of Quantities (BOQ)
• Support cost planning and provide accurate cost estimates for materials, labour and equipment
• Monitor project budgets and implement cost control measures
• Prepare periodic cost reports for internal and external stakeholders
• Assist in contract administration and help deliver projects within agreed cost, time and quality targets

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field
• Previous experience in engineering or construction projects in Nigeria or similar environments is an advantage
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills, with attention to detail
• Effective communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary project teams

Required skills

• Cost planning and cost management, including developing and maintaining project budgets
• BOQ preparation, measurement and valuation of works
• Cost control and cost reporting to track expenditure and forecast final costs
• Familiarity with construction contracts, industry standards and regulations
• Numerical accuracy and use of quantity surveying or construction cost software
