Quality Improvement Assistant (MNCH)

About the role

The Quality Improvement Assistant will support the Quality Improvement Specialist and MNCH Technical Advisor in the HARMONY Care project across selected health facilities in Ebonyi State. The role focuses on ensuring client referrals are completed, monitoring implementation of quality interventions, and strengthening community‑facility coordination throughout the maternal, newborn and child health continuum.

Key responsibilities

• Track and verify community‑to‑facility and facility‑to‑facility referrals, ensuring clients receive required services and follow‑up.
• Conduct routine supportive monitoring visits using checklists, dashboards and run charts to identify gaps and support corrective actions.
• Facilitate coordination among health facilities, community health workers, ward development committees and local leaders to improve referral and demand‑generation activities.
• Maintain and update client‑tracking tools, referral maps, activity trackers and other programme‑management documents.
• Collate data, perform basic quality checks and support the MEL team in timely reporting and documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher National Diploma in Nursing, Midwifery, Community Health, Public Health, Health Education or a related field.
• Minimum three years of post‑qualification experience in MNCH, community health, quality improvement, referral systems or similar public‑health programmes.
