Publications Editor & Writer Internship

About the role

UN Women is seeking Publications Editor and Writer Interns to support the production of regional knowledge products. The role involves editing, drafting and proof‑reading documents to ensure they are clear, consistent and ready for design and publication.

Key responsibilities

• Edit, copy‑edit and proof‑read draft regional knowledge products using track changes.
• Substantively re‑draft sections, write abridged versions, executive summaries and other texts for non‑expert audiences.
• Prepare proposed changes to figures, check word usage, abbreviations, formatting, numbers, units and proper names.
• Edit chapter titles, subheadings, table and figure legends for brevity and consistency.
• Ensure all documents are returned with tracked changes and meet UN Women style guidelines.

Required profile

• Ability to work under the guidance of the Knowledge Management and Research Specialist and collaborate with programme focal points.
• Access to a reliable internet connection and a computer capable of running Microsoft Office.
• Attention to detail and strong command of English language conventions.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word with track‑changes functionality.
