Public Relations Officer

About the role

The Public Relations Officer is a full‑time, on‑site position based in Nsukka, responsible for managing the public image and communications of the NIEEE UNN Student Chapter. The role involves drafting press releases, maintaining media relationships, and promoting chapter events and initiatives across social media, email and campus channels.

Key responsibilities

• Create and distribute press releases and other communication materials.
• Manage relationships with media outlets and coordinate coverage of events.
• Develop and execute PR campaigns to increase visibility and engagement.
• Monitor public feedback, maintain consistent branding, and ensure timely information sharing.
• Support the executive team with strategic communications and content creation.

Required profile

• Strong public relations and media relations experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with attention to detail.
• Familiarity with social media management and basic digital marketing practices.
• Organizational and time‑management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Experience in student leadership or event promotion is an advantage.
• Interest in electrical and electronic engineering or STEM activities.
• Currently enrolled student at UNN or eligible member of the NIEEE UNN Student Chapter.
