Project Officer

About the role

The Project Officer will support the smooth operation of programmes by handling administrative, financial and logistical tasks. This position is essential for maintaining accurate records, coordinating events, and ensuring compliance with organisational procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain organised filing systems for physical and electronic documents, including contracts, invoices and programme records.
• Manage correspondence, telephone calls, emails and routine enquiries, and schedule meetings with agendas and minutes.
• Assist in preparing programme budgets, tracking income and expenditures, and supporting financial summaries for audits and donor reporting.
• Coordinate procurement processes, obtain quotations, and maintain vendor records.
• Provide logistical support for training sessions, workshops and events, handling venues, registrations, materials and transport arrangements.

Required profile

• OND/HND or bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, Office Management or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in office administration, accounts support or project administration, preferably in an NGO or development programme.
• Basic accounting knowledge with ability to track expenditures and reconcile petty cash.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for drafting professional emails, letters and reports.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience with email and online collaboration tools.
• Familiarity with bookkeeping or budget monitoring tools.
