Program Manager – Gender Equality & GBV Prevention

About the role
The Program Manager will lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of gender‑based violence (GBV) prevention and response programmes for a leading non‑profit focused on gender equity in Nigeria’s tertiary institutions. The role combines strategic planning, stakeholder coordination and results‑driven monitoring to ensure programmes align with the organisation’s mission and donor requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate planning, implementation, monitoring and review of GBV programmes, ensuring delivery within agreed timelines and budgets.
- Develop and refine workplans, activity schedules and implementation frameworks that reflect survivor‑centred and trauma‑informed principles.
- Collect and analyse programme data, feedback and learning to improve effectiveness and inform strategic decisions.
- Identify risks, operational challenges and emerging issues, escalating significant concerns and proposing practical solutions.
- Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, community stakeholders, implementing partners and civil‑society organisations.
- Support funding development by contributing to concept notes, proposals, budgets and donor reporting.
- Prepare high‑quality reports, case studies, success stories and other documentation for internal and external audiences.
- Supervise and build capacity of programme staff, consultants and volunteers, identifying training needs related to GBV and protection standards.
Required profile
- Master’s or bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Gender Studies, International Development, Public Policy, Human Rights, Project Management or a related field.
- 5–7 years of progressive experience in programme or project management within NGOs, civil‑society organisations or the gender/GBV sector.
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating GBV prevention and response, protection, safeguarding and survivor‑centred programming.
- Proven ability to work with donors, develop proposals, manage budgets and deliver timely reports.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
