Process Technician – Offshore Nigeria

About the role

The Operations Technician provides day‑to‑day functional support and surveillance of unit operating equipment on an offshore FPSO platform. You will master safe work practices, preventative safeguards, process hazards, emergency response procedures and key operating envelopes for the assigned unit.

Key responsibilities

• Develop thorough knowledge of primary unit operations, safe operating limits and control schemes.
• Identify unit process and environmental hazards and apply appropriate safeguards.
• Perform lock‑out/tag‑out, Management of Change and procedure compliance.
• Conduct surveillance and sampling rounds with a focus on operations excellence and safety.
• Prepare equipment for maintenance or return to service, including field and console operations.
• Monitor equipment, detect abnormal operation, support optimisation and troubleshooting.
• Execute emergency response actions across a variety of scenarios.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years relevant oil‑and‑gas operator technician experience.
• Higher National Diploma or City & Guilds Level 4 in Process/Instrumentation, or BSc in Engineering with verified experience.
• Nigerian citizenship with NYSC discharge certificate or exemption.
• Ability to adapt, innovate, communicate effectively and identify workplace hazards.

Required skills

• Operation and maintenance of production equipment (pumps, compressors, separators).
• FPSO platform experience.
• Instrumentation reading and adjustment (transmitters, sensors, gauges, control valves).
• Familiarity with ESD, Fire & Gas (F&G) systems.
• Distributed Control System (DCS) monitoring and remote control.
• Interpretation of Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).
• LOTO procedures and critical device bypass.
• Hydrocarbon processing, tank inert gas systems and off‑loading operations.
• Oil‑and‑gas separation, dehydration, gas compression, water treatment and export systems.
• Minor equipment repairs and routine maintenance.
