Pharmacist - Oncology (Lekki, Lagos)

About the role

A leading oncology healthcare facility in Lekki, Lagos is looking for a dedicated Pharmacist to ensure the safe procurement, preparation, dispensing and monitoring of medications, with a strong focus on oncology pharmaceuticals and chemotherapy support. The pharmacist works closely with oncologists, nurses and other healthcare professionals to deliver safe, evidence-based pharmaceutical care while meeting regulatory standards. The position is full-time and shift-based, reporting to the Head of Pharmacy or Medical Director.

Key responsibilities

• Dispense prescription medications accurately according to protocol, review prescriptions for accuracy, dosage, drug interactions and contraindications, and prepare and supervise the handling of chemotherapy medications.
• Monitor patients for adverse drug reactions and provide medication counselling to patients and caregivers.
• Maintain adequate stock levels, monitor inventory and expiry dates, coordinate procurement and keep accurate pharmacy records.
• Ensure compliance with Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) regulations, document controlled drugs and narcotics, and take part in medication safety audits and quality improvement.
• Educate patients on medication use, side effects and adherence, and promote rational drug use.
• Work with physicians, nurses and laboratory teams, attend clinical meetings and case reviews, and stay up to date on oncology pharmacy advances.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm or Pharm.D).
• Current practicing licence with the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN).
• Minimum 3-5 years of post-qualification experience in a hospital pharmacy; previous oncology or chemotherapy preparation experience is highly preferred.
• Certification or training in Oncology Pharmacy is an added advantage.

Required skills

• Sound clinical and pharmaceutical knowledge and experience with oncology and chemotherapy medications.
• Proficiency in pharmacy management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Attention to detail, strong communication and patient counselling skills, and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
