Pharmacist

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Pharmacist to join Mercy Group Clinics in Abeokuta, Nigeria. The role involves ensuring safe and effective medication use for patients across our hospital and community pharmacy settings.

Key responsibilities

• Review and validate prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness and potential drug interactions.
• Dispense prescription and over‑the‑counter medicines in accordance with professional standards.
• Provide patient counseling on dosage, side effects, storage and adherence.
• Monitor medication therapy, identify and resolve medication‑related problems.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals to optimise patient care.
• Maintain accurate medication records and pharmacy documentation.
• Manage pharmaceutical inventory, including procurement, stock control and expiry monitoring.
• Ensure proper storage and handling of medicines per regulatory requirements.
• Participate in medication safety initiatives, pharmacovigilance and adverse drug reaction reporting.
• Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff where applicable.
• Contribute to quality improvement activities and continuing professional development.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an accredited institution.
• Valid registration and practising licence with the relevant pharmacy regulatory authority.
• Minimum of 1 year of hospital or community pharmacy experience.
• Strong knowledge of pharmacology, therapeutics, drug interactions and pharmaceutical regulations.
• Excellent communication and patient‑counselling abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
• Experience using pharmacy management software.
