Operations & Maintenance Engineer – Solar Power Projects

About the role

We are seeking an Operations & Maintenance Engineer to lead the upkeep of solar power projects, including mini‑grids and commercial/industrial installations, across Taraba, Nigeria. The role ensures optimal system performance, safety compliance, and high reliability while managing a team of technicians and coordinating with vendors.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of solar PV projects to maintain peak performance.
• Monitor system data, diagnose faults, and implement rapid troubleshooting to minimise downtime.
• Develop and execute Maintenance Job Routines (MJRs) and work packets, and keep accurate maintenance records.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis of equipment failures and drive improvement initiatives.
• Perform energy calculations, inspections and performance analyses to optimise system efficiency.
• Ensure all activities comply with HSE policies, NEC, and OSHA standards.
• Coordinate with service contractors and supervise on‑site inspections, repairs and specialised services.
• Prepare performance reports, incident records and maintenance documentation.
• Identify opportunities for process optimisation and enhanced reliability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in solar PV operations and maintenance.
• Professional registration (COREN) preferred.
• Relevant certifications such as Mini‑Grid Design, SPVIS or NAPTIN are a plus.
• Strong problem‑solving and team‑leadership abilities.
