About the role

The Online Editor is a full‑time, on‑site position based in Abuja. You will manage and update the news website, ensuring that content is accurate, engaging and published promptly.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the website’s daily content flow and keep it up‑to‑date.
• Edit and package stories for online consumption, writing headlines and summaries.
• Coordinate with reporters and editors to maintain editorial standards.
• Monitor news cycles and optimise articles for search and audience engagement.
• Ensure adherence to editorial guidelines and ethical standards.
• Collaborate with social‑media teams and respond to breaking‑news situations.
• Contribute to digital content planning and strategy.

Required profile

• Strong web‑editing and content‑writing abilities.
• Experience with content management systems.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• High‑level writing with attention to clarity, accuracy and tone.
• Relevant experience in online journalism, digital publishing or newsroom environments.
• Familiarity with SEO best practices, web analytics and user‑engagement metrics.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced news environment, prioritise multiple tasks and maintain editorial quality.
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies or related field (preferred).
• Strong ethical judgment and commitment to unbiased reporting.
