National Sales Manager

About the role

The National Sales Manager will be the primary executor of Johnvents FMCG’s commercial vision across Nigeria. You will lead the field sales organisation, turning national strategies into operational excellence at territory, area and regional levels.

Key responsibilities

• Direct implementation of national sales plans, ensuring consistent execution of the 4Ps (Presence, Placement, Pricing, Promotion) across all regions.
• Oversee regional and area sales managers to meet daily, weekly and monthly volume and revenue targets.
• Monitor distributor health, inventory levels and trade debt to maintain operational continuity.
• Design and optimise route‑to‑market structures, including van fleets, sub‑distribution models and direct‑to‑retail initiatives.
• Identify and penetrate white‑space opportunities in the Nigerian market.
• Recruit, train and develop a high‑impact sales force, establishing performance management frameworks and incentive schemes.
• Drive adoption of Sales Force Automation (SFA) and CRM tools to achieve full visibility of secondary sales and stock levels.
• Conduct regular business reviews with regional heads, using data to adjust tactics and reward top‑performing territories.

Required profile

• 10+ years progressive FMCG sales experience, with at least 5 years in a regional or national leadership role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics or related field; MBA or professional sales certifications are a plus.
• Expert knowledge of the Nigerian informal trade, street vending and last‑mile distribution networks.
• Proven ability to lead large, geographically dispersed teams and manage P&L and trade budgets.
