Multimedia Journalist

About the role

Leadership Media Group, Nigeria's most influential multimedia news content provider headquartered in Abuja, is hiring a full-time, on-site Multimedia Journalist. The role covers research and development of news stories, interviewing and producing content for broadcast, online and social media platforms. It is open to candidates based in Abuja and Lagos.

Key responsibilities

• Research and develop news stories, conduct interviews and pitch story ideas
• Write scripts and articles, and shoot and edit video
• Record audio segments and support live broadcasts as needed
• Monitor news developments daily and verify information
• Collaborate with editors, producers and other team members to deliver accurate, engaging content
• Follow editorial guidelines, tight deadlines and ethical reporting standards

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
• Experience producing news content for TV or other broadcast platforms
• Ability to work under deadlines, manage several assignments and respond quickly to breaking news
• Familiarity with journalistic ethics, fact-checking and legal considerations in reporting
• Strong interpersonal and interview skills, able to work collaboratively in a diverse newsroom

Required skills

• Excellent writing skills, including news writing, script writing and clear, concise storytelling
• Comfort with digital tools, social media platforms and content management systems
• Knowledge of the Nigerian media landscape is an advantage
