Monitoring, Reporting, Evaluation and Learning (MREL) Project Officer

About the role

The Monitoring, Reporting, Evaluation and Learning (MREL) Project Officer will support the UK Health Security Agency's International Health Regulations Strengthening Project in Nigeria. Based in Abuja, the role involves working with the MREL team to ensure robust monitoring, evaluation and learning processes for this high‑profile ODA‑funded initiative.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Country team and IHR‑SP MREL team to implement the monitoring and evaluation project plan.
• Track project progress against agreed indicators and monitor the quality of returns.
• Collect, collate and manage evidence of project activities, including follow‑up with IHR project teams for evaluations.
• Prepare regular monitoring updates and contribute to reporting requirements.
• Provide recommendations based on evidence to inform internal decision‑making.
• Undertake occasional travel within Nigeria and occasional international travel as needed.

Required profile

• Entry‑level candidate with up to two years of relevant experience.
• Flexible approach with ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple workstreams.
• Strong interest in public‑health project monitoring and evaluation.
