Modern Trade Manager

About the role

Our client, a leading FMCG organization, is looking for an experienced Modern Trade Manager to drive sales growth and brand visibility across supermarkets, hypermarkets and e‑commerce platforms in Nigeria. You will manage major accounts, develop strategic plans and lead a sales team to achieve revenue and profitability targets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic sales plans for modern trade channels to meet revenue, volume and profit goals.
• Build and maintain relationships with key retail accounts, negotiate contracts, business plans and promotional terms.
• Lead, coach and monitor the sales and merchandising team to ensure flawless in‑store execution, planogram compliance and effective use of POS materials.
• Conduct regular store visits, performance reviews and provide on‑the‑job coaching.
• Analyse sales data, market trends and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities and shape pricing and promotion strategies.
• Collaborate with marketing, supply chain, finance and logistics teams to align strategies and ensure product availability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing or a related field.
• 5–7 years of FMCG sales experience (preferably dairy) with at least 3 years in modern trade or key‑account management.
• Proven track record of meeting sales targets and driving revenue growth.
• Strong negotiation, relationship‑management and leadership abilities.
• Ability to analyse financial data, manage P&L statements and make data‑driven decisions.
