Medical Receptionist

About the role

The Medical Receptionist will be the first point of contact for patients visiting the laboratory, ensuring smooth registration, sample collection and communication of results. This role combines front‑desk duties with basic phlebotomy and administrative tasks in a fast‑paced healthcare environment.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, label and transport blood samples while obtaining verbal consent and verifying patient identity.
• Prepare sampling sites, follow safety and hygiene protocols, and support laboratory scientists with equipment.
• Enter patient information, test requests and billing details into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and maintain accurate records.
• Perform cost estimates, invoicing, and handle payments using standard office software.
• Adhere to infection‑control procedures, biomedical waste disposal guidelines and standard operating procedures.
• Answer phones, greet patients courteously, relay test results and maintain confidentiality.

Required profile

• Entry‑level qualification with at least 2 years of experience in a medical reception or phlebotomy setting.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills and a patient‑focused attitude.
• Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe and secure working environment.
