Medical Officer – Night Duty & Weekends

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Officer to join our 40‑room skilled nursing and rehabilitation hospital in Lagos. The role is contract‑based, covering night shifts and weekends, and involves delivering high‑quality medical care to in‑patients and out‑patients.

Key responsibilities

• Clerk new patients for admission and manage the outpatient department.
• Conduct comprehensive medical assessments, order investigations, collect samples and follow up results.
• Participate in daily ward rounds, prescribe medications and document care promptly in the EMR.
• Prepare discharge reports and other clinical documentation.
• Educate patients and families about conditions and treatment plans.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.
• Stay updated on medical advancements and adhere to clinical protocols.
• Perform additional clinical tasks as assigned.

Required profile

• Medical degree from an accredited institution and a valid medical practitioner’s license.
• 3–5 years of experience as a medical officer or in a comparable role.
• Ability to work independently and manage chronic conditions with minimal supervision.
• Strong clinical judgment, attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with pharmacy management software.
• Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
