Medical Officer

About the role

The Medical Officer will join a busy hospital in Lagos, providing comprehensive clinical care across medical, surgical, paediatric and obstetric services. You will work closely with consultants, nurses and allied health professionals to deliver safe, high‑quality patient treatment.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with a wide range of medical conditions.
• Provide prompt and effective care for medical, surgical, paediatric and obstetric emergencies.
• Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical findings.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive patient records.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality patient care.
• Participate in ward rounds, emergency response and other assigned clinical duties.
• Work scheduled shifts, including weekends and public holidays as required.
• Support continuous quality‑improvement initiatives within the hospital.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent medical qualification from a recognised institution.
• Full registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) and a valid practising licence.
• 2‑3 years post‑qualification clinical experience in a hospital setting.
• Strong competence in managing medical, surgical, paediatric and obstetric emergencies.
• Excellent clinical judgment, decision‑making and documentation abilities.
• Professionalism, integrity and a patient‑centred approach.

Required skills

• Clinical emergency management (medical, surgical, paediatric, obstetric).
• Accurate patient record documentation.
• Effective communication within multidisciplinary teams.
