Medical Laboratory Scientist – Histology

About the role

Gemrook Laboratories is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist specialized in histology to join its diagnostic team in Lagos. The role focuses on receiving, processing, and preparing patient tissue specimens for microscopic examination by the Pathologist.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and log tissue specimens according to laboratory protocols.
• Process and embed samples, cut sections, and mount slides for analysis.
• Perform histological staining, Immunohistochemistry and in‑situ hybridization techniques.
• Maintain accurate records in the Laboratory Information System.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.

Required profile

• Graduate of a recognized Medical Laboratory Science program.
• Current registration with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria.
• Minimum of 2 years recent experience in histology.
• Ability to work independently under pressure with minimal supervision.
• Physical capability to perform laboratory duties safely.
