Medical Doctor (Outpatient/Inpatient) – Dikwa, Nigeria

About the role

INTERSOS is seeking a qualified Medical Doctor to deliver both outpatient and inpatient care to patients and beneficiaries in Dikwa, Nigeria. The role involves applying up‑to‑date medical knowledge and adhering to INTERSOS values and universal hygiene standards to improve health outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, treat and prevent illnesses through inpatient and outpatient consultations, following established protocols.
• Inform patients and families about diagnoses and treatment plans, ensuring understanding.
• Manage the rational distribution, quality control, disinfection and sterilisation of medicines and medical equipment.
• Maintain compliance with hygiene standards and oversee weekly/monthly consumption analysis and medical orders.
• Collect, transmit and analyse epidemiological data, reporting any complications or errors.
• Monitor department functionality, equipment performance and material availability.
• Provide ongoing training to the multidisciplinary medical and paramedical team.
• Lead the medical team, organise shifts, supervise performance and ensure confidentiality.
• Collaborate with programme, logistics and HR departments as required.

Required profile

• Medical Doctor diploma.
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience; experience in obstetrics‑gynecology, paediatrics, general medicine or minor surgery is desirable.
• Essential computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel and Internet).
• Strong teamwork, flexibility and commitment to INTERSOS principles.
• Fluency in the mission language (essential) and local working language (desirable).
