Mechanical Engineer – Facility Management

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join Alpha Mead Group’s Facility Management team in Kano. The role focuses on ensuring the reliable operation, maintenance and performance of all mechanical systems within our commercial properties.

Key responsibilities

• Manage operation, maintenance and performance of mechanical equipment including HVAC, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, plumbing, generators and fire‑fighting systems.
• Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programmes for all mechanical assets.
• Supervise routine inspections, fault diagnosis and timely corrective actions.
• Monitor contractors and service providers to ensure compliance with SLAs, quality and safety standards.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment, maintenance activities, faults, repairs and spare parts.
• Ensure compliance with HSE requirements, statutory regulations and facility maintenance standards.
• Monitor energy and equipment performance, identifying opportunities for efficiency and cost optimisation.
• Prepare maintenance reports and provide recommendations on equipment replacement, repairs and improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5–8 years of experience in facility management, commercial buildings, shopping malls, hospitality or manufacturing.
• Hands‑on knowledge of HVAC, chillers, pumps, plumbing and fire‑fighting systems.
• Experience in preventive and corrective maintenance planning and execution.
• Proven ability to supervise technicians, contractors and service providers.
• Familiarity with CMMS, maintenance documentation and reporting.
• Professional engineering certification or membership is an advantage.
• Residency in Kano or willingness to relocate.
