Marine Advisor I

About the role

The Marine Advisor I will ensure safe and efficient turnaround of gas carriers and condensate tankers across Nigeria’s marine terminals. The role supports contractor management, safety oversight and implementation of industry best practices.

Key responsibilities

• Recommend and implement safety improvements.
• Provide operational efficiency advice and oversee marine fueling controls.
• Implement and improve best‑practice programmes such as MTMSA and MTOCT.
• Perform technical writing, document review and continuous improvement of manuals and procedures.
• Manage marine‑terminal projects and provide project‑management support.
• Conduct vessel inspections and Marine Quality Assurance assessments.
• Prepare training documents, assessment packages and deliver training.
• Coordinate loading, personnel transfer, PTWS, tugs, port services and safety/surveillance vessels.
• Support contractor interfacing using the oi 8‑1 system, including work‑crew evaluation, SSHE leadership, gap‑closure planning and subcontractor management.

Required profile

• Prior marine experience in a senior officer position (required).
• Master Mariner’s licence (required).
• Experience within a company operations organisation (preferred).
• University degree (preferred).
• Strong “Nobody Gets Hurt” safety culture.
• Expert knowledge of large tanker mooring operations and best practices.
• Familiarity with Operations Integrity Systems, specifically oi 8‑1.
