Manager Upstream (Business & Operations)

About the role

MML Consulting is seeking a senior Manager Upstream to lead business and operations activities in the Energy & Utilities sector. Based in Lagos, you will drive market growth, oversee revenue generation, and build strategic partnerships across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct market and competitor analysis to identify emerging opportunities and growth segments.
• Develop and execute short‑ to medium‑term growth strategies aligned with corporate revenue targets.
• Own the full business development lifecycle from opportunity identification to contract award, managing a predictable sales pipeline.
• Lead major bids, tenders and proposals, coordinating technical, financial and legal inputs.
• Define pricing strategies, assess commercial risks and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Identify, negotiate and manage strategic partnerships with vendors, subcontractors and institutional stakeholders.
• Collaborate with operations, finance, procurement and compliance teams to align sales commitments with delivery capacity.
• Manage key client relationships, driving renewals, scope expansion and cross‑selling opportunities.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of senior‑level experience in business development, commercial management or related functions within Energy & Utilities.
• Proven track record of winning high‑value, complex projects.
• Strong analytical ability to translate market data into actionable strategies.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with senior‑level client and regulator interaction.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally and influence internal teams.
