Local Cocoa/Coffee Market Business Development Representative

About the role
We are looking for an experienced Business Development Representative to drive sourcing and partnership activities within Nigeria’s cocoa and coffee sectors. The role will support market intelligence, supplier onboarding and procurement processes to strengthen the company’s position in the local commodity market.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct market research and monitor cocoa and coffee market trends, pricing movements, production forecasts, and supply chain developments.
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers, cooperatives, traders, aggregators, exporters, and logistics partners.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the cocoa and coffee value chains.
- Support procurement and sourcing activities, supplier negotiations, and transaction coordination.
- Monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance with contractual and operational requirements.
- Prepare and manage commercial documentation, contracts, supplier records, and compliance files.
- Ensure adherence to local regulations, export requirements, quality standards, traceability, and sustainability policies.
- Coordinate quality inspections, supervise loading operations, and verify shipment quantities and specifications.
- Conduct supplier visits, farm visits, warehouse inspections, and operational assessments.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, trade fairs, and stakeholder meetings.
- Prepare regular reports on market developments, sourcing activities, supplier performance, risks, and business opportunities.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Agriculture, Agronomy, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Economics, International Trade, Commerce, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in cocoa, coffee, agricultural commodities sourcing, procurement, trading, or business development.
- Strong knowledge of cocoa and coffee markets, supply chains, quality grading systems, and export operations.
- Experience in supplier management, procurement processes, and market intelligence.
- Knowledge of commodity trading practices and agricultural sourcing networks.
- Strong analytical, reporting, negotiation, and relationship management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
