Loan Officer – Client Acquisition & Credit Management

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Loan Officer to join our team in Abuja. You will be responsible for attracting new loan clients, assessing credit risk, and ensuring smooth loan processing while maintaining strong relationships with borrowers.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, source, and onboard new loan clients through field marketing, referrals and other channels.
• Conduct thorough customer verification, including documentation checks and basic credit risk assessments.
• Evaluate clients’ financial capacity and recommend suitable loan products.
• Ensure proper documentation, record‑keeping and compliance with company policies.
• Monitor loan performance and follow up on repayments, implementing recovery strategies for defaulters.
• Build and maintain long‑term client relationships to encourage repeat business and referrals.
• Provide accurate information on loan terms, repayment schedules and policies.
• Prepare and submit daily, weekly and monthly performance reports to management.

Required profile

• Minimum OND, HND or BSc in any discipline.
• Prior experience in loan, credit or sales‑related role is an advantage.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation abilities.
• Target‑driven with proven ability to meet and exceed performance goals.
• High level of integrity and professionalism handling client information.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Good knowledge of the local market and environment.
• Basic computer literacy.
