Live-in Gateman & Messenger – Hospital

About the role

The hospital is seeking a reliable live‑in Gateman and Messenger to ensure secure access, support logistics and carry out basic facility maintenance. The role combines gate control, patient assistance and routine repairs in a faith‑based medical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Control entry and exit of patients, visitors and staff, maintaining accurate logs.
• Deliver medical records, laboratory samples and documents between departments and to external partners.
• Guide patients, especially expectant mothers and the elderly, providing directions and assistance.
• Patrol the hospital perimeter, report safety hazards and monitor for suspicious activity.
• Receive, sort and distribute hospital supplies and mail.
• Perform routine plumbing, electrical and structural repairs, including fixing leaks, blockages and faulty sockets.
• Assist with basic maintenance of generators, water pumps and air‑conditioning units.
• Conduct daily walkthroughs to identify and resolve minor issues before they escalate.
• Ensure all repairs comply with safety and hygiene standards for a medical setting.
• Support supervision of external contractors for larger technical projects.

Required profile

• Proven experience in general maintenance and security within a facility.
• Professional, punctual, clean and respectful attitude toward patients and staff.
• Christian faith alignment with the hospital’s mission (evidence of a “born‑again” life).
• Clear spoken and written English; Igbo language is a plus.
• Honest, vigilant, physically fit and willing to be on‑call for emergency repairs.
