Laboratory Quality Assurance Coordinator

About the role

The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) in Abuja is seeking a Laboratory Quality Assurance Coordinator to lead the development and maintenance of its laboratory quality management system. The role ensures compliance with international standards, protects patient safety, and supports the centre’s mission to deliver world‑class care.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain a comprehensive QMS aligned with ISO 15189, CLIA and CAP accreditation requirements.
• Write, review and update SOPs for all laboratory processes, conducting risk assessments and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Oversee proficiency testing, internal audits, and corrective‑preventive actions to sustain high quality performance.
• Ensure equipment calibration, validation of new methods and preventative maintenance programs.
• Provide training, competency assessments and professional development for laboratory staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field with relevant professional certifications (e.g., ASSOPON).
• Minimum 5 years of clinical laboratory experience, including at least 3 years in a quality‑assurance or supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory standards (ISO 15189, CLIA, CAP) and quality management principles.
• Demonstrated leadership, communication and problem‑solving abilities.
