Kotlin Integration Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Kotlin Integration Engineer to design, build, and maintain event‑driven connectors using Kotlin, Quarkus and Apache Camel. The role involves full‑lifecycle ownership of connectors, from development through production support, within our Lagos engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain event‑driven connectors in Kotlin following the DSF connector architecture.
• Integrate third‑party and internal APIs with production‑grade security (OAuth, JWT, request signing, mTLS) and manage secure secrets.
• Implement reliability patterns such as idempotency, retries with back‑off, dead‑letter handling and Kafka consumer‑group strategies.
• Create automated unit and integration tests using QuarkusTest, Testcontainers/Kafka Dev Services and WireMock.
• Build and deploy containerised applications with Docker and CI/CD pipelines, supporting Kubernetes deployment configurations.
• Collaborate with engineering, platform, API‑gateway and operations teams to ensure reliable production services and maintain technical documentation.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of JVM backend engineering experience with strong Kotlin (or Java with demonstrable Kotlin delivery).
• Proven production experience with Apache Kafka, including consumer groups, partitioning and schema handling.
• Hands‑on experience with integration frameworks such as Apache Camel, Spring Integration or MuleSoft.
• Experience building services with Quarkus, Spring Boot or Micronaut and implementing API security (OAuth, JWT, TLS).
