Junior Multimedia Designer

About the role

Code for Africa is seeking a Junior Multimedia Designer to join its Engagement team. You will use visual storytelling to boost audience interaction around digital democracy and civic technology initiatives across Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Create graphic designs, animated GIFs, and short videos for social media platforms.
• Collaborate with writers, developers, and product managers to plan visual content across multiple channels.
• Adapt visual narratives to the strengths of each social platform to maximize engagement.
• Support campaigns on topics such as human trafficking, misinformation, public health, and investigative journalism.

Required profile

• Portfolio or showreel demonstrating graphic design, illustration, animation, or social‑video skills.
• Experience producing content that achieved viral reach or meaningful community impact.
• Ability to work in a multilingual, multinational team using digital collaboration tools.

Required skills

• Mastery of Adobe Creative Cloud Suite – especially Adobe XD, Illustrator, Photoshop, and After Effects.
• Understanding of social‑media platform dynamics and visual storytelling techniques.
• Proficiency with collaboration tools such as Slack, Google Drive, Trello, and Airtable.
