Junior Cocoa Trader – Lagos, Nigeria

About the role

We are seeking a Junior Cocoa Trader to lead our cocoa trading desk in Lagos. You will coordinate procurement, export, and buyer development activities across West Africa, ensuring profitable trade flows and strong market presence.

Key responsibilities

• Manage P&L for the cocoa vertical, setting pricing strategies and profit targets.
• Develop and maintain relationships with international buyers and processors, negotiating terms and contracts.
• Guide sourcing teams on procurement strategy, infrastructure setup, and logistics at origin.
• Represent the company at trade fairs, conferences, and networking events to boost brand visibility.
• Monitor global market trends and competitor activity to inform trade decisions.
• Ensure all contracts and export activities comply with legal, quality, and buyer standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in cocoa trading or related commodity work in Nigeria.
• Proven track record of P&L ownership and executing profitable trades.
• Strong negotiation abilities and commercial judgment.
• Extensive network of global cocoa buyers or origin suppliers.
• Willingness to travel to sourcing regions and key market hubs.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
