Infrastructure & Technical Supervisor – Shelter

About the role

The Infrastructure / Technical Supervisor – Shelter will support the EU‑funded “SIDPIN” project in Nigeria, helping displaced households and host communities regain safe, durable housing and essential infrastructure. Working under the Programme Manager – Shelter/NFI and the Shelter Project Assistant, the role involves planning, implementing, monitoring and reporting on shelter‑related construction and rehabilitation activities across Adamawa, Yobe and Benue states.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in field assessments, site selection and feasibility checks for housing and community infrastructure works.
• Prepare material requests, verify technical specifications and ensure quality of supplies and contractor deliveries.
• Develop basic technical layouts, measurements, bills of quantities (BoQs) and sketches for planned works.
• Conduct topographical measurements, setting‑out exercises and site demarcation to guide implementation.
• Monitor site‑level activities to ensure compliance with approved designs, safety and Sphere standards.
• Support community engagement, including mobilisation, sensitisation and feedback collection.
• Facilitate coordination between field operations teams and community representatives.

Required profile

• Experience in infrastructure or construction projects, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Ability to work closely with UN agencies, state authorities and local partners.
• Strong organisational skills for planning, reporting and coordination.
