HSE & Soft Services Officer/Supervisor

About the role

You will act as the on‑site guardian of health, safety and environmental compliance while also taking operational ownership of all soft services – cleaning, landscaping, pest control and related facilities functions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain the site HSE Management System in line with Nigerian legislation, company standards and client requirements.
• Conduct and review risk assessments, issue and close Permits to Work for high‑risk activities such as hot work, confined space entry and working at height.
• Perform daily, weekly and monthly HSE inspections, produce reports, and drive corrective actions.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near‑misses, delivering root‑cause analysis and preventive recommendations within 24 hours.
• Maintain the HSE register, emergency response procedures, fire drills and training records in audit‑ready condition.
• Oversee waste management, monitor generator emissions, noise levels and water discharge quality to ensure compliance with LASEPA and NESREA regulations.
• Lead HSE inductions and toolbox talks for all staff and subcontractors.
• Supervise cleaning, janitorial, landscaping and pest‑control teams, ensuring service quality and compliance with health and safety standards.

Required profile

• Relevant HSE qualification or certification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) and proven experience in a similar dual HSE/facilities role.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian HSE legislation, environmental regulations and Permit‑to‑Work systems.
• Experience managing soft‑service operations such as cleaning, landscaping or pest control.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
