HR Compliance Manager

About the role

The HR Compliance Manager will lead the development, implementation and monitoring of HR policies and procedures to ensure full compliance with Nigerian labour laws and internal standards. This role works closely with Legal, Internal Audit and other functions to safeguard the organisation’s compliance posture.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain HR policies aligned with applicable legislation.
• Monitor legislative changes and advise management on compliance implications.
• Conduct regular HR compliance audits, identify gaps and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with employment contracts, statutory obligations, employee documentation and record‑retention requirements.
• Partner with Legal, Internal Audit and other departments on compliance‑related matters.
• Lead investigations into HR compliance issues and propose resolutions.
• Support regulatory inspections, external audits and compliance reporting.
• Design and deliver training on HR policies, ethics, workplace conduct and compliance.
• Monitor onboarding, off‑boarding, performance management, disciplinary and employee‑relations processes for compliance.
• Track HR compliance metrics and prepare periodic reports for senior management.
• Maintain confidentiality and proper handling of employee data in line with data‑privacy regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Law or a related field.
• Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM‑CP/SHRM‑SCP, CIPD, HRCI) is an advantage.
• 3–5 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2–3 years in HR compliance or employee relations.
