Heavy Duty Diesel Engineer

About the role

The Heavy Duty Diesel Engineer will lead the servicing, maintenance and overhaul of high‑capacity diesel generators for our customers in Abuja and surrounding sites. Reporting to the Service Manager, you will ensure reliable power delivery through timely inspections, repairs and warranty support.

Key responsibilities

• Perform load audits, site inspections and prepare accurate estimates for generator installations.
• Independently repair, service and overhaul diesel generators ranging from 1,000 kVA to 4,000 kVA, including CAT and similar brands.
• Manage branch warranty issues and conduct pre‑delivery inspections (PDI) of all generator stock before dispatch.
• Lead a team of technicians, ensuring job cards are closed within the company’s 7‑day target.
• Travel to client sites for service calls, presentations and follow‑up meetings.

Required profile

• HND or B.Sc. in Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
• 3–5 years of experience in heavy‑duty diesel generator repair and overhaul, with proven team‑leadership.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to operate both manual and automatic vehicles.
• Willingness to travel regularly for site visits.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of heavy‑duty generators (1,000‑4,000 kVA) and CAT generator systems.
• Proficiency in engine repair, servicing and complete overhauls.
• Technical ability to conduct load audits and prepare installation estimates.
