Head, Product Control & Accounting

About the role

Moniepoint is seeking a senior leader to bridge Finance with Product & Technology, ensuring every new product, feature, or pricing change is built with the correct accounting and control framework before launch.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the technical accounting partner for Product and Engineering on all new initiatives.
• Write accounting memos and position papers covering IFRS 15 revenue recognition, IFRS 9 financial instrument classification, and fee vs. interest income treatment.
• Design, build, and maintain a consistent chart of accounts for multi‑product platforms.
• Map the full customer journey to the appropriate GL treatment and ensure accurate financial statement impact.
• Review product specifications pre‑launch, flagging accounting and control gaps.
• Own reconciliation between product/transaction data and the general ledger, resolving breaks at source.
• Implement and document controls such as maker‑checker, reconciliation, and exception handling.
• Maintain a living library of product accounting documentation and collaborate with internal audit and external auditors.

Required profile

• ACA/ACCA (or equivalent) with 8+ years post‑qualification experience, including Big 4 technical accounting or audit exposure.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS 15, IFRS 9 and broader IFRS standards.
• Proven ability to translate product designs into accounting treatments and GL structures.
• Comfortable engaging directly with engineers and product managers.
• Experience in payments, fintech or banking environments is preferred.
