Head of Structured Trade & Commodity Finance

About the role

The Head of Structured Trade & Commodity Finance will lead the STCF division of a leading Nigerian investment bank. Reporting directly to the CEO, the role combines strategic vision, deep technical expertise, and extensive relationship management to drive growth across Nigeria and the wider African market.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the overall strategy for the Structured Trade & Commodity Finance division, identifying new market opportunities and product innovations.
• Originate and structure complex commodity finance transactions for mid‑tier to large corporates, multinational traders, oil & gas downstream players, and state‑owned entities.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team of structurers, analysts, and legal/compliance experts, fostering a collaborative culture and succession planning.
• Oversee product development including pre‑export finance, borrowing‑base facilities, prepayment structures, and warehouse receipt financing.
• Manage risk, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and position the bank as the preferred financial partner.

Required profile

• Executive‑level professional with at least 10 years of experience in structured trade or commodity finance.
• Proven track record of business development and revenue generation in investment banking.
• Strong network across financiers, commodity producers, and traders in Nigeria and Africa.
• Demonstrated leadership ability to build and mentor high‑performing teams.
