Head of Research and Development

About the role

Seismic Consulting Group is seeking a senior executive to lead its Research & Development function. The Head of R&D will shape the firm’s research agenda, build intellectual capital, and ensure methodological excellence across all projects.

Key responsibilities

• Design, oversee, and execute large‑scale research and evaluation projects for World Bank, bilateral donors, and public sector clients.
• Ensure rigorous qualitative and quantitative data collection, quality assurance, and ethical compliance.
• Drive innovation in research design, incorporating mixed‑methods, participatory, and adaptive approaches.
• Produce high‑quality outputs such as reports, policy briefs, and evaluations for technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Set and implement a multi‑year research strategy aligned with Seismic’s growth objectives and donor priorities.
• Build and lead a high‑performing R&D team, establishing standards for quality, ethics, and methodological innovation.
• Cultivate strategic partnerships with universities, think tanks, and peer organisations.
• Lead business development by developing compelling technical and financial proposals.

Required profile

• Extensive experience leading research and evaluation programmes for international development donors.
• Proven track record in managing large, multi‑disciplinary research teams.
• Deep understanding of World Bank, OECD DAC, GIZ, and USAID evaluation standards.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
