Head of Pre‑Trip Inspection

About the role

The Head of Pre‑Trip Inspection leads the planning, execution, and evaluation of pre‑trip inspections for trucks and equipment at Dangote Cement Transport Obajana, ensuring safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance before vehicles embark on assignments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage pre‑trip inspection protocols and procedures.
• Lead a team of inspectors to conduct thorough inspections of all trucks and equipment.
• Analyze inspection reports, address identified issues, and coordinate corrective actions.
• Work with maintenance teams to schedule and oversee necessary repairs or maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
• Track, record, and report inspection data for analysis.
• Provide training and guidance to inspection team members.
• Continuously improve inspection processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Required profile

• BSc and MSc/MBA in Transport & Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
• Minimum 15 years of experience in logistics, transport operations, or related field, with significant leadership or managerial experience.
• Prior top‑leadership experience within the FRSC is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of supply chain management, distribution networks, and Nigerian transport regulations.
• Sound understanding of trucking safety standards, HSE requirements, and industry best practices.
• Proven leadership, team management, and stakeholder‑engagement capabilities.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship‑management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven approach.
• Membership of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) or equivalent professional body.
• Experience working with regulatory agencies and external service providers.
