Head of Operations – Mining & Energy

About the role

The Head of Operations will lead all operational activities for our mining and energy business in Abuja. You will be responsible for driving production targets, ensuring safety compliance, and optimizing resource utilization across the entire value chain.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement operational strategies to meet production and business goals.
• Oversee daily mining, mineral processing, transportation, and logistics operations.
• Manage manpower, equipment, and resource allocation efficiently.
• Monitor performance metrics and initiate corrective actions as needed.
• Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, environmental, and mining regulations.
• Lead incident investigations and enforce preventive measures.
• Oversee maintenance programs for equipment and machinery, recommending replacements when required.
• Prepare and manage operational budgets, monitor expenditures, and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Maintain regulatory compliance and submit required reports to authorities.
• Lead, mentor, and evaluate operational managers and staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Build and sustain relationships with local communities, government agencies, contractors, and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• BSc degree (any discipline).
• Minimum of 3 years (36 months) experience in a similar operational leadership role within mining, energy or related sectors.
• Proven ability to manage large‑scale operations and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong analytical and financial management skills.
• Excellent knowledge of HSE and regulatory requirements.
