Head of Internal Audit

About the role

The Head of Internal Audit will lead Renmoney’s internal audit function, providing independent assurance and advisory services to strengthen the bank’s control environment, risk management and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement an annual risk‑based internal audit plan aligned with regulatory requirements and business objectives.
• Provide strategic leadership for the audit team and present findings to executive management and the Board Audit Committee.
• Evaluate the adequacy of internal controls across operations, financial reporting, technology and compliance processes.
• Assess and improve risk‑management frameworks, monitor control gaps and oversee remediation activities.
• Oversee execution of operational, financial, compliance and IT audits, ensuring timely and high‑quality delivery.
• Conduct investigations into suspected fraud, misconduct or control breaches.
• Ensure compliance with Central Bank of Nigeria regulations, internal policies and corporate governance standards.
• Liaise with regulators, external auditors and other stakeholders on audit‑related matters.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading internal audit functions in a banking or financial services environment.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements, especially CBN regulations.
• Ability to evaluate and improve governance, operational, financial and technology controls.
• Experience presenting audit findings and recommendations to senior executives and board members.
