Head of Fuel Operations

About the role

The Head of Fuel Operations leads the end‑to‑end fuel supply process, ensuring accurate forecasting, efficient allocation, and reliable delivery across all sites. This senior position coordinates with vendors, logistics teams and finance to maintain fuel availability within defined service levels.

Key responsibilities

• Forecast fuel consumption using business tools, vendor data and historical trends; project allocations based on fueling principles and operational needs.
• Allocate bulk fuel volumes to suppliers according to cluster proximity and delivery lead times; coordinate truck loading and dispatch to avoid delays.
• Validate deliveries against allocation rules, ensure on‑time delivery compliance and approve operational forms.
• Lead the reconciliation process with vendors, identify and resolve volume discrepancies, and escalate issues for rapid closure.
• Monitor vendor performance, oversee purchase order issuance, and ensure timely payments in line with SLAs.
• Prepare monthly fuel consumption and reconciliation reports for finance.
• Collaborate with finance on diesel loss recovery plans for unaccounted fuel volumes.
• Identify and mitigate risks throughout the fueling process.

Required profile

• Proven experience in fuel operations, logistics or supply chain management.
• Strong analytical ability to achieve ≥95 % accuracy in monthly fuel forecasts.
• Track record of maintaining ≥98 % on‑time fuel supply to sites.
• Experience leading vendor performance reviews and reconciliation activities.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple stakeholder relationships.
